Pioneering in Green and Energy-efficient Data Center Solutions with Intel Technology.
Hanoi, 18 June 2008
CMC Telecommunication Services Corporation (CMC Telecom) officially launched its first international standard Data Center with brand name BlueData®. On this occasion, CMC Telecom and partners announced the formation of the Data Center Alliance (DCA) whose members includes CMC Telecom (Vietnam), 1-Net Singapore (Singapore), The AIMS Asia Group (Malaysia) and T.C.C Technology (Thailand) followed by the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony between the DCA and Intel to accelerate Green Data Center deployments in the region.
With objectives to become the number one carrier-neutral Data Center services provider in Vietnam ranking alongside providers in the region and the world, CMC Telecom has been building international-standard Data Centers in Hanoi and Hochiminh city to meet the highest requirements of customers in financial, banking, insurance sectors; of multi-national corporations; and of foreign companies whose offices are in Vietnam. The newly launched Data Center in Hanoi is the first among the network of CMC Telecom”s Data Centers in Vietnam.
CMC Telecom”s Data Center was designed and built following Tier-III, TIA-942 Telecommunications Infrastructure Standard for Data Center. According to that, the main components consisting of the main power source, the generators, the Uninterrupted Power System (UPS) and the precision air conditioning were designed in parallel with N+1 redundancy. The CMC Telecom”s generator system allows the Data Center to operate continuously for 72 hours without any interruption if the main power source broke down. The precision air conditioning system keeps the temperature and humidity inside the Data Center at constant figures of 22 degrees Celsius and 55% respectively. In addition, the Data Center is equipped with the most advanced lightning protection, fire detection and suppression, water leak detection and security system etc.
The services provided by CMC Telecom”s Bluedata® Data Center include: Co-location services; Dedicated-server services; Managed services; Connectivity services; and Disaster-recovery services. With its high quality infrastructure and teams of experienced technicians, experts, CMC Telecom provides customers with complete packages of services that help customers minimize their efforts on IT investment and focus on their main business. CMC Telecom operates its Data Center as the Carrier-Neutral Data Center in Vietnam.
CMC Telecom is the first Telecom company in Vietnam to have founded the DCA together with 3 leading telecom, IT services providers in South East Asia, namely, 1-Net from Singapore, The AIMS Asia Group from Malaysia and T.C.C Technology from Thailand, marking the milestones of forming the Regional Data Center in the region. It is the first step of CMC Telecom”s strategy to expand its business to international market.
“This Data Center Alliance is an opportunity for our regional Alliance partners to extend our services by providing a comprehensive suite of regional data center solutions to meet the regional business needs of our customers,” said Yow Tau Keon, Managing Director, 1-Net Singapore. “As a strong and well-established data center provider, 1-Net Singapore is excited to share our knowledge & experience and to integrate our strengths with our partners” to create significantly more energy efficient, secured and reliable cross border data center services. Leveraging Intel”s silicon innovation, regional telcos, service providers, MNC business customers can count on the Data Center Alliance partners to take care of their business needs and provision of data center services using state-of-the-art energy-efficient technologies.”
On this occasion, the DCA is officially announced in Vietnam, which has a combined space of more than 45,000 m2 and a projected annual turnover of US$77 million by 2009. The alliance will become one of the biggest data center operators in the region catered for first-tier telcos, government agencies, banks and other businesses.
The data centers within the DCA will meet Tier III and above standards as stated by the Data Center Tier Classification from Uptime Institute. They will also be using ISO27001 as reference for the information security management system (ISMS), a quality management system (QMS) as per ISO9001 and an ISO20000 reference for IT Service Management Standard.
“Intel’s leadership in silicon innovation coupled with our expertise in deploying data center solutions, will foster the development of innovative green data center design & implementation. This Data Center Alliance sets the precedence for ASEAN data center service providers to join forces & collaborate in enabling region”s enterprises to stay competitive in the global economy. Intel is committed to providing complete support and share the knowledge in terms of technology implementation and as well as sales & marketing resources,” said Subra Shankhar, Intel APAC Enterprise Solution Sales Director.
“The Alliance expands each member”s influence in the data center services market of south-east Asia,” said Mr. Pham Anh Chien, Chief Executive Officer of CMC Telecom. “It also will increase customer satisfaction through cross-border interconnected data centers, exchanged technologies and quality of services. As one of the first and largest neutral-carrier data services provider in Vietnam, CMC Telecom see such fascinating project as part of our Data Center Global Supply Chain strategy.”
On the other hand, one of the key objectives of the DCA is to develop Green Data Centers by applying modest energy saving technologies as the contribution for reducing the greenhouse effect and global warming. This is also the objective of many data center service providers and IT corporations, and one of which Intel has been very focused on.
Intel was selected by the DCA due to its silicon technology leadership and the breadth of its experience in data center solutions. Intel shall advise and cooperate with the DCA in applying green/energy-efficient solutions that analyze and optimize the energy usage of transformers, UPS, Air-Conditioner and memory.
“Energy efficiency and its effect on the global environment is a rising concern all over the world. As a premier data center service provider, our participation in this exciting initiative with Intel is also part of our corporate social responsibility to contribute and assist in reducing our carbon footprint. Every little bit counts and we are hoping to count with Intel on this.” Loh Yuen Weng, Vice President of Business Development, The AIMS Asia Group.
“TCCT is the first Data Center in Thailand having founded the Data Center Alliance (DCA) together with 3 leading Telecom and IT services providers in South East Asia, marking the milestones of forming the Regional Data Center. It is another step of TCCT”s strategy to expand our business to international market. Our clients” satisfaction level will increase even more via the upcoming projects e.g. the cross border alternative sites and the various programs collaborating with our Technology Partners, like Intel. Intel intends to explore opportunity with us to develop Green Data Centers by applying modest energy saving technologies as the contribution for reducing the greenhouse effect, while being more efficient.”, stated by Mr.Kosit Suksingha, Managing Director from TCC Technology.
The collaboration enables the members of the DCA to have early access of Intel technology, facilitating the provision of customized data center solutions that best address the needs of enterprises competing in the ASEAN region as well as the global economy. This includes early access to Intel processors, platform and other products through technology seminar, review systems, and test samples. Subject experts at Intel and the alliance members will form a virtual taskforce for knowledge sharing and evaluation for strategic technologies, such as Intel® Virtualization™ Technology and Intel® vPro™ technology which are core technologies to enable green/energy-efficient data centers. Intel also committed to open its data center for visit and organize seminars with its data center experts.
