1-Net Singapore expands data center hosting capacity and full managed services
Bigger state-of-the-art, energy-efficient one-stop facility to meet growing regional demands
Singapore, 12 May, 2009
Singapore”s leading data center player 1-Net Singapore announces plans to expand its telco-class Tier 3 Internet Data Center, fully-integrated with a complete suite of managed services in Singapore to meet the growing demands for outsourced IT services throughout Southeast Asian markets.
Within the next six months, 1-Net will add approximately 20,000 square feet of hosting space to its existing 80,000 square feet data center located at Chai Chee. In addition, 2010 will see the establishment of 1-Net Singapore”s new Tier 4 data center adopting the latest green technologies in its own independent building. 1-Net will also be hiring additional IT professionals with these expansion plans.
Unlike most other local providers that only provide data hosting services, 1-Net acts uniquely as a one-stop shop that takes care of its customers” total needs by extending a suite of managed services to them. Some of the services include systems management, backup and storage management, managed security and monitoring.
The expanded capacity will also allow more businesses to take advantage of 1-Net”s status as a carrier-neutral data center with the ability to provide zero mile access to the Internet via its multi-homed internet exchange, as well as the broadband network on Gigabit Ethernet (GE) platform that interconnects the majority of broadband traffic within 1-Net premises.
Together with its recently established status as one of the founding members of the Asia Data Center Alliance (ADCA), these expansions will place 1-Net in an even better position to serve rising needs for data center services in Asia. The ADCA is a four-member alliance that enables companies in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam to, by approaching a single interface, access to services complying with international standards, and the advantage of transferring data and digital content media seamlessly across borders.
Industry analysts are predicting a significant growth in data center capacity in Singapore and around the region within the next few years. Among the factors driving companies to outsource their data center operations to managed service providers are data growth, rising costs, increasing complexity of business demands and staffing issues.
With 1-Net”s managed services, businesses can have access to trained, competent and certified engineers who will provide round-the-clock system support, seamless online operations and rapid notification and resolution of any issue. In this way, they can reduce costs for in-house staffing and logistics significantly. In addition, 1-Net”s customers will enjoy maximum security with devices regularly updated with the latest firmware and security patches as well as low cost, non-intrusive, automated monitoring.
“The expansion of the 1-Net Singapore Data Center opens up new realms of opportunities for our customers,” says Mr Yow Tau Keon, Managing Director of 1-Net Singapore. “Now they can have greater access to high quality, cost-efficient and energy-efficient data center services which they can depend on to maintain competitiveness amid ever-changing business conditions and to dedicate greater focus on growing their businesses.”
