1-Net signs MOU with Cyber CSF, TCCT and PCCW Global to expand its data center network in Asia

The collaboration will provide the participating data centers with enhanced security, connectivity and reliability for their content and applications.

Singapore, 19 Nov 2014

1-Net today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with CyberCSF in Indonesia and TCC Technology (TCCT) in Thailand to expand its network in Southeast Asia, and also with PCCW Global, the international operating division of HKT, Hong Kong’s premier telecommunications service provider, for further expansion into Hong Kong. This collaboration will enable the three data centers to connect back to 1-Net in Singapore to form a cost-effective and strategic inter-connection, allowing them to cache high demand applications and content on their networks to enhance security, connectivity and reliability.

This collaboration is in line with Singapore’s Infocomm Media Masterplan, where Singapore is positioned as a “Digital Harbour[1]” to drive more data, content and digital services into Singapore through the inter-connectivity of data centers.

Creating a High Speed Asian Data Center Corridor

Using Singapore as a data center hub in this agreement, all partners will have the option to connect to all participating data centers directly through a “Data Center Corridor”. This will enable 1-Net, CyberCSF, TCCT and PCCW Global to easily access domestic and international markets more rapidly; this will in turn improve the customers’ network experience at lower latency and cost.

“We are delighted to partner with the Asia’s leading data center providers to introduce a high-speed access network in Asia. Global data center traffic growth will be almost tripled by 2018[2], and the introduction of the data center corridor will be the key catalyst for this growth. With this new initiative, businesses can now focus on what’s important, knowing that their back-end IT is taken care of,” said Mr. Wong Ka Vin, Managing Director of 1-Net.

Mr. Voradis Vinyaratn, Executive Director and Acting Managing Director said, “We are pleased that our relationship results in multiplying impact on IT industry as it offers a wider range of IT infrastructure availability and capacity. With our strong relationship with 1-Net and PCCW Global, today’s collaboration has affirmed our success proved by connection between existing eastern route and new southern route. With security and reliability, these routes will serve surging IT and high-speed Internet demand across Asia Pacific. I am proud that TCCT, 1-Net, CyberCSF, and PCCW Global have made our joint vision of “Data Center Corridor” into reality to further enhance regional infrastructure to be ready for AEC next year.”

Mr. Daniel W. Korompis, President Director of Cyber CSF said, “ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA) countries and companies doing business with us can now gain access to state-of-the-art data center services and advanced technology telecommunication providers, allowing them to focus on their business growth.”

PCCW Global also entered a strategic alliance with 1-Net today, enabling their customers to have access to comprehensive portfolio of data center services, cloud, network and security solutions through their combined data center footprint across Asia. A similar agreement[3] was also signed between 1-Net, Cyber CSF and TCCT earlier in October 2014.

1-Net North, an upcoming data center by 1-Net, was also announced in June this year and will be completed in early 2016. The facility will be Singapore’s first data center to be certified with Tier III standards for Tier Certification of Design Documents and Tier Certification of Constructed Facility by Uptime Institute, an independent data center research, education, and consulting organization.
