1-Net North Data Center is Southeast Asia’s First Uptime Institute Certified Tier III Constructed Facility

1-Net Singapore announced today that it has achieved Tier III Constructed Facility certification from Uptime Institute (UTI) for its newly operational 1-Net North data center. The milestone marks 1-Net North as Southeast Asia’s first commercial data center completing Tier III Certification of Constructed Facility, as well as the first of its kind in Singapore. The recognition is awarded by the Uptime Institute, the globally recognized data center expert, and is a performance-based evaluation of a data center’s specific infrastructure. A Tier III facility is a concurrently maintainable site infrastructure which has redundant capacity components and multiple distribution paths serving the critical environment.
Tier Certification of Constructed Facility (TCCF) is a vital phase in Uptime Institute’s Certification process which is a progression from Tier Certification of Document Design (TCDD) awarded to 1-Net North Data Center. Unlike TCDD, TCCF goes beyond the review of paper designs and involves vigorous on-site testing to root out discrepancies between the actual installations and the designed drawings. This gives the customers higher assurance of the quality of data center infrastructure and ability to react to disruptions due to unplanned activities.
1-Net North: The Future-Proofed Data Center
1-Net North comes as a timely solution to Singapore’s growing emphasis on its Smart Nation vision. With the Internet of Things, Big Data, mobile and cloud computing and other third-platform technologies powering the future economy[1], the nation will need to secure and maintain high levels of digital transactions, supported by reliable infrastructure and innovations in the data center space.

1-Net North is also specifically designed to meet both the stringent safety and data security guidelines of the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). It will include advanced security features, 24/7 secure access control, perimeter fencing and bomb-blast proof concrete walls. All mission critical systems within the facilities are configured to facilitate concurrent repair, maintenance and replacement without disruption to essential business operations.
Moving forward, 1-Net North is also targeting to achieve Tier III Certification of Operational Sustainability, which measures management and operations performance in data centers. The Certification of Operational Sustainability ensures that managers and employees keep close adherence to recommended behaviors to help attain the full performance potential of the data center.
